I'm an old school hip hop Dj who start back in the the 80's when it was still call electro hip hop, Me and my friend " PHD " use too practice on my brother's decks when he went out. With the help of my brother and some other DJs learned to cut & scratch, but the big break came when I went to a DJ classes hosted by Dj Red Alert & Africa Bambaataa where I learned my real knowledge about be a DJ. This was all-so the first time I would meet Bambaataa, I was sitting in front of him not real pay any notice of what Red Alert was saying on stage at the Hammersmith Apollo. Bambaataa hit in my side and told me to pay attention, well I told no notice of him. So when Red Alert said " do we have any volunteers" Bambaataa pointed start too me. So I went on stage and made a real ass of myself, I sat back down, & Bambaataa  turns to me and said " I told you to listen, now listen" big man we will meet again!

With the new style I have found me and some of the other DJs I knew start doing are own parties, give the people the music that they really wanted to hear. I did use too do a little MC-ing , some people might know my name from Nottinghill Carnival. Where I what MCed over reggae for any sound system that would let me on the mic. I called "Steppa" by my family & family friends, I got the name because I would walk all over London on my own. Then because I was a really go dancer, which helps me when I'm selecting tunes.

I was playing a mix of soul and hip hop right up to the 90's, when it all went gangster rapper, but I still stay in-it because I love my hip hop!

Silver Bullet?........

Yes I was in Silver Bullet. This is the second time I would meet Bambaataa, we were doing a gig a Brixton Academy with Big Daddy Kane! and Bambaataa was there we meet again!

I stopped doing the dance and went back to the music, now this was right at the start of the Drum & Bass when most people were still calling it rave music. Yes Drum & Bass did come from the rave music, but it was more about the beats and bass lines than just having noises all over the tune. My friend and me all got more in to the D & B than the rave, it all start with my friend MC Conrad he was the first one. Then PHD & Conrad got me in to the music, we use go to a club call the Milk bar in London where you could find ( Goldie, Chemistry & Storm, Fabio & GrooveRider, Roni Size.etc.) this was before they all big stars. We all went there to listen to the music, because D & B hadn't really got going yet! Then we got another event in London Blue-note, an under ground club that look like it was in somebody's house. Some of the Dj started there own labels e.g. Hospital, Metalheads, Moving Shadows, etc. Conrad & PHD signed to a Label this where I would meet some of the other artist like Blame, Blu-Mar-Ten, Big Budd etc. Now being full armed up I went off, still not signing to any Label just dropping the heaviest & phattest tunes ripping up dance floors all over the south east. Near the end of the 90's me not sign to any label started to give me problems, because some of the labels would only give tunes to DJs that played only there music. The whole thing was starting to slow down, because I was still a hip hop DJ I went straight back to the music.

In the 2000's I give DJ-in a rest, because everything was getting to political for me. All I would to do is play a couple of tunes! music can be political like Public Enemy, but not like if you don't play this music your a sell-out.

About 4 years ago some of new DJ friends called me & PHD out of retirement to do some gigs with them " Audio_AD, Furney, DJ Willse-E, Juan, Mark Preest etc." My big launch came when Blame let me do a Official Mega Mix of his tunes and post it on-line. With the hits I was  on mydjspace.net and my twitter Coast2Coast invited to join as one of there DJs and the rest well we're still writing?
